The Official Opening Ceremony of the new building at Eaton Socon Pre-School CIO was conducted on Friday 12th October 2018 with over 150 guests in attendance including local dignitaries, representatives from Cambridgeshire County Council, Trustees and past Committee members, Parents, Staff and Children. The building was officially opened by Nick Walker (Chair of Trustees) who had spearheaded the project since its conception.

The New Building project started a little over 6 years ago with an initial aim of accommodating a further 6 to 8 Children. The project quickly gained momentum as the demand for places increased, waiting lists grew and the existing portacabins were rapidly approaching the end of their useful life.

April 2018 brought the completion of a £1M purpose-designed building sited on recently acquired freehold land. “The new building gives us a clean safe environment to deliver care and education to the children, with space for them to grow and thrive” says Caroline Allanson, Pre-School Manager. The building accommodates three fantastic classrooms providing an enriched learning-through-play opportunity for up to 100 children aged between 2 and 4 years.

The project was jointly funded between the Department of Skills & Education, Cambridgeshire County Council and Eaton Socon Pre-School CIO. The funding enables the Eaton Socon Pre-School to remain free from liabilities and loans allowing the Charity to further re-invest into equipment and learning experiences for the Children to explore and enjoy.
